Definition
This is a procedure to correct the hairline through hair transplantation. Hairs extracted from the occiput are transplanted along the hairline in the forehead so as to reduce the size of forehead or smoothen out the hairline.
Operative Method
1. Non-incisional Technique : Hair follicles are individually collected under local anesthesia. It does not cause scarring and the patient can get back to their daily routine on the same day of the procedure. The patient will usually recover in 1 - 2 days.
2. Incisional Technique : Conscious sedation or general anesthesia is necessary. The scalp is excised in the shape of a strip. This technique involves occipital resection and suture. Therefore, scarring occurs in the occiput and a recovery period of 2 - 3 weeks or longer is necessary.
