Hi, thank you for inviting me. I'm Yang Hyuk-jae, an orthopedic surgeon. I’m currently serving as the director at Medrex Clinic in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam, Seoul. It's an honor to have this opportunity to meet you all.

Medrex Clinic is a compound word consisting of Medi- from Medical and Rex, which means emperor in Latin. I have named the clinic this way to highlight our aim of treating patients like emperors.

I opened Medrex Clinic to offer treatment for diseases with cutting-edge medical techniques causing no pain, thereby boosting patient satisfaction. Medical clinics have a sterile and formal atmosphere, and many come to visit us in the hope of easing their pain, but they are often compelled to undergo major surgery as their symptoms have worsened. As I continued to conduct a number of surgeries for this kind of patients, I came to realize that “I need to build a medical clinic where people will feel free to visit and comfortable to stay so that they can prevent conditions from worsening even if they are not yet ill,” “I want the patients to feel that their conditions are indeed improving and enhance their satisfaction enough to feel relieved to bring their parents here for treatment,” and “the clinic must be able to offer a detailed description of what kind of disease each patient has and how to cure the disease.” Patients fear and become afraid of surgeries because the pain caused by a series of major surgeries becomes quite severe. Therefore, those who come visit us at the early stages will be able to prevent their diseases from worsening through simpler procedures that are not accompanied by pain. I came to realize its true importance while treating the patients, so I began this journey with a firm belief in facilitating prevention at our clinic for the purpose of helping our patients by reflecting this belief to our treatment philosophy.

It is difficult for patients to come all the way to Korea from overseas. Our clinic is located in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam, making it easily accessible in terms of traffic. The philosophy that drives our clinic is to render the most profound medical practice in the world and build a medical clinic that records the highest satisfaction no matter who we serve. In particular, many Chinese patients come visit us. For those who come find us, we strive to offer translation services as well as medical services that cause no inconvenience whatsoever. I can confidently say that our clinic offers therapies that ensure that Chinese patients feel comfortable during their stay with us for the treatment of their parents.

In general, it is inevitable to advise people with severe arthritis in areas such as knees, shoulders, and ankles to undergo surgery to treat the disease. Note, however, that reborn cell surgery can be considered an option for those who are in the early stages and who require no surgery but who have endured pain during medication as there is no special treatment available. This is one of the only few treatments that combat arthritis by extracting stem cells from the patient's body and using simple injection therapy without resorting to any incision or anesthesia. This causes no side effects because the patient's own stem cells are extracted for application. Its benefit is that it is pain-free, causing no barrier to getting back to engaging in ordinary activities and work after the procedure. Patients only need to apply ice packs to the affected area for 2-3 days. They can visit us and receive treatment on the same day and leave the clinic without having to receive hospitalized treatment. Most of the injection therapies for autologous adipose-derived stem cells and PRP peripheral blood vessels require waiting periods due to cultivation. Note, however, that this therapy has the advantage of being able to receive treatment on the same day.

Medical institutions should fully focus on providing fundamental means of prevention through improved patient satisfaction with services to prevent recurrence eventually without causing any pain, at the same time offering high-standard treatment services for patients and improving patient satisfaction to match the services. Instead of being complacent in opening a medical clinic, we are making efforts to integrate related health care and other medical businesses based on the clinic with the medical service to be able to develop the ability to provide total care. At the same time, as the director of the clinic, my aspiration is to promote the healthcare industry related to health services instead of remaining fully occupied with medical treatment while growing the subsidiary businesses, moving beyond the medical area as an owner in order to build a top-notch hospital and healthcare industry in Korea.
