If you want a clear and flawless complexion without any blemishes or mottled skin on your face, what you need is a laser treatment performed to match each type of blemish. Let us find out how to alleviate melasma and freckles, typical hyperpigmentation symptoms in women.

Laser toning - Effective for melasma in deep dermal layers!

Melasma appears as cloud-like and ribbon-shaped pigments on both sides of the face (especially in the vicinity of cheekbones under your eyes). They usually appear in people in their 30s and 40s, and they easily grow darker when exposed to ultraviolet rays. Laser toning removes melanin pigments generated in the deep dermal layer and transforms uneven skin tone into uniform and bright complexion, using the low-energy Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser with a wavelength of 1064m. In addition to the melasma, the Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser is also used for hyperpigmentation treatment, such as the removal of Nevus of Ota and tattoos.

Laser toning destroys melanin pigments and, at the same time, stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagen, which is also likely to eliminate dilated pores and fine wrinkles. As it works mainly on the deep layers of the skin and does not damage surrounding tissues, no scabs are formed after treatment, and although it may sometimes trigger some redness, it soon goes away.

If you want your melasma to fade away, we recommend you to try laser toning at least ten times at fortnightly intervals.

IPL - Effective for melasma and freckles on the skin surface!

Freckles are small and brown, oval spots less than 0.5 cm wide that appear as if small sesame seeds have been sprinkled over. Unlike the melasma that only appears on the face, freckles are a hyperpigmentation condition that may develop in areas exposed to UV rays such as arms, the back of hands, and chest. Unlike ordinary lasers that emit light of a single wavelength, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) radiates several wavelengths that are effective in treating a variety of conditions, thereby improving hyperpigmentation. If the laser is beamed into the pigmented area adjacent to the outer layer of the skin such as freckles, scabs are formed, and then they naturally fall off with the pigments. IPL laser treatment is effective not only for freckles, but also for melasma, sun spots, and age spots that appear near the skin surface, and it is also useful for improving redness, acne marks, fine wrinkles, and skin tone. However, as melasma sometimes leaves a dark trace after the IPL treatment, it is best to receive the treatment from an experienced specialist.

It is recommended to receive the treatment 3 to 5 times at intervals of 3 to 4 weeks according to the regeneration cycle after the skin scabs caused by hyperpigmentation treatment naturally fall off.

Precautions to take after laser toning and IPL laser treatment

Have you steadily received laser toning and IPL treatments to match the number of treatments recommended by our medical staff and obtained a satisfactory treatment effect for hyperpigmentation? If you do not take sufficient care in your daily life after the laser treatment, the melasma and freckles may develop or darken again. What matters the most in post-procedure care is to block UV rays. When going outside, apply sunscreen and use tools that block the sunlight, such as a hat, handy parasol, or sunglasses. Usually, sunscreen should be applied every 3 to 4 hours, but the interval should be reduced to every 2 hours for outdoor activities. You are recommended to check the sunscreen for its sun protection factor (around 30 SPF is appropriate) before use.

You are recommended to use a moisturizer or regeneration cream containing skin barrier ingredients to help the skin regenerate after the treatment, and you should use a hypoallergenic cleansing product when washing your face. Also, getting a prescription to use a whitening ointment, depending on your skin condition, may help maintain the treatment effect and prevent any recurrence.
