David Sung Yong Kang

Dr. David Sung Yong Kang is the Founder and Clinical Director of EYEREUM EYE CLINIC in Seoul.
Founded in 2011, EYEREUM EYE CLINIC has published over 60 SCI-indexed papers — a testament to Dr. Kang’s reputation as a distinguished physician-scientist. He is a respected authority in Korean ophthalmology and actively contributes as a reviewer for international scholarly journals.
Dr. David Sung Yong Kang is widely recognized as an advocate for refractive surgery using lenticule extraction techniques.
He has received the 'Best Paper of Session' award four times at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) to date. And has received three Best Academic Achievement Awards from the Korean Ophthalmological Society — including the Best Video Award — for his research on SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) and CustomEyes

PATENTS
David Kang, to date has rights to 6 patents in Ophthalmology. His first patent, registered in 2008, involves circumlinear capsulorrhexis technology during cataract surgery. Since then he has patented new methods of de-epithelization of the cornea prior to refractive surface ablation, removing phakic IOLs and removing lenticules during SMILE.
